The Society of Oncologic Imaging is an apolitical, non-profit organization, exclusively and directly dedicated to promoting and coordinating the scientific, intellectual and professional activities of Cancer Imaging. The Society’s mission at all times is to serve the health care needs of the general public through the support of science, teaching and research and the quality of service in the field of Cancer Imaging.

The Society shall be an apolitical, non-profit organization, exclusively and directly dedicated to promoting and coordinating the scientific, philanthropic, intellectual and professional activities of Cancer Imaging. The Society’s mission at all times is to serve the health care needs of the general public through the support of science, teaching and research and the quality of service in the field of Cancer Imaging. Our annual conference is part of this endeavour to advance and improve the imaging aspects of patients with malignancy and to advance the quality of diagnosis and treatment of oncologic patients by means of medical imaging and to enhance teaching and stimulate research in all fields of oncologic imaging.
Our Purpose
To establish Cancer Imaging as an area of special interest and expertise in diagnosis and treatment, and to serve as scientific forum and to promote research as well as technical developments in Cancer Imaging in India.
To enhance, optimize and standardize medical imaging protocols for cancer diagnosis staging and treatment, for the benefit of patients and professionals, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, sex or language with love and compassion, on non- profit basis in a true spirit of service to society and to undertake any measures as the Society may deem fit, for their welfare.
To establish the subspecialty Cancer imaging for dissemination of knowledge in cancer imaging, clinical, educational, and research information.
To foster education and training in Cancer Imaging and to develop a subspecialty curriculum.
To conduct study groups, lecture series, translate, publish, print and distribute books, journals, periodicals, literature and digital educational material for promoting awareness about cancer imaging to enlighten the masses and medical fraternity.
To conduct annual conference with scientific sessions and refresher courses, thereby providing a forum for presentation of scientific information on various aspects of Oncologic Imaging as well as continuing education.
Collaboration with IRIA, other national and international radiological societies, e. g. the European Cancer Society, ICIS ,Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), to enhance the development of standards of care in Oncologic Imaging. To foster the development of Cancer Imaging in general across the country.
In the Statutes of the Society the term ‘radiology’ implicates both ‘diagnostic and interventional radiology’. A radiologist is a qualified medical practitioner who has undergone appropriate postgraduate training in diagnostic and interventional radiology. The following purposes are hereby in focus of the Society:
